Who We Are: RA tigers baseball

Sportsmanship Teamwork Strength Character Discipline Dedication

The RA Tigers are focused on development and on helping all of our players become the best baseball players they can be. Our Director of Player Development and Training is Jason Shockey.  Jason was formerly the Hitting and Outfield coach for Creighton University and the hitting and infield coach for Iowa Western Community College.  Jason is Manager/Instructor at the Ropes Academy training center.

To instill the integrity of the game of baseball into each player while helping them understand the greatness of the game. To allow each player to learn the many life lessons associated with the game of baseball. To guide and enhance the development needed to advance to the high school or college level. To provide the best learning environment, the best competition, and the most fun the game of baseball has to offer to its participants.

Who Are We?

Tigers Baseball Association Inc. d/b/a RA Tigers is a youth select baseball organization that provides Omaha area youth ages 8 – 18 with an opportunity to work hard and become great baseball players.  We emphasize proper fundamentals, superior coaching, respect and great effort.  As long as we focus on these things, winning will take care of itself!

Where Have We Come From?

Tigers Baseball started in 2003 with only one team and has grown to 16 youth teams and two high school elite teams in 2012.   Tiger teams have participated in numerous local, regional and even national tournaments.  One of our first teams even qualified and competed in the prestigious National Elite 16 Tournament.

Where Are We Going?

In the summer and fall of 2008, we took a number of steps to improve our organization.  First, we incorporated the Tiger organization as a Nebraska non-profit entity.  Second, we hired former Iowa Western and Creighton Assistant Coach, Jason Shockey as our Director of Player Development and Coaches.  Coach Shockey oversees all matters relating to player instruction and coaching.  Third, we partnered with Ropes Academy becoming their official teams at the Major and AAA levels.

What does all this mean?  Well, we think it means we are uniquely positioned to deliver on our mission statement.

Under the direction of Coach Shockey, players will be taught proper fundamentals and receive superior coaching.  Coach Shockey is also responsible for interviewing and selecting the coaches for each team.  Although some of our coaches may be parents, all of our coaches will be extremely knowledgeable about the game of baseball and put our Organization and team goals first.  In addition to being responsible for the development of our players, Coach Shockey is responsible for the development of our coaches.
